See the payments that follow a chat

Sell with a Stripe payment link? Your Hazelchat agent offers it as the next step, and Stripe tells Hazelchat when someone pays through it. You see payments after a chat in Analytics and on each conversation. Read-only, on every plan.

How a payment after a chat reaches Hazelchat A visitor asks in the chat on your website, and the chat offers your Stripe payment link with a random chat reference added. The visitor pays on Stripe's payment page. Stripe tells Hazelchat that the payment through that link was made, with its amount, currency and product. Who paid stays in Stripe. Connect in four steps

  1. In Hazelchat

    Sign up or log in

Start free, or log in to your workspace. Your agent answers from your own website and documents.

  2. In Hazelchat

Choose a purchase as the next step

Under Behaviour, then Actions, set the next step to View purchase options and click Connect Stripe.

  3. In Stripe

    Install Hazelchat

Choose your Stripe account and accept the read-only permissions. Stripe sends you back to Hazelchat.

  4. In Hazelchat

Pick your payment link and publish

Pick one of your active payment links. It becomes the link the chat offers. Publish, and Hazelchat waits for the first payment.

These steps follow Stripe’s documentation for apps that install with OAuth. Hazelchat for Stripe is not in the Stripe App Marketplace yet.

What counts as a payment after a chat

  • Counted

A payment through the link the chat offered, which Stripe reports as paid, within 30 days of the visitor’s last message. Bank debits count when Stripe confirms them. A refund lowers the amount.

  • Not counted

A click on the link, a payment that never went through, a payment through the same link from somewhere else, your own test chats and renewals of a subscription.

Each chat’s link carries a random reference, so Stripe’s notice can be matched to the conversation. A payment after a chat does not prove the chat caused it.

What Hazelchat sees

  • Read

Your active payment links, so you can pick one, and Stripe’s notices about payments and refunds through the picked link.

  • Kept

Per payment: amount, currency, the product name you gave the link in Stripe, its status and Stripe’s own reference, so you can find it in Stripe.

  • Never kept

Who paid: no name, email, phone, address, tax ID, card or custom field. Hazelchat cannot change anything in your Stripe account.

Your data controls still apply

Disconnect Stripe on the same card in Hazelchat at any time. To remove Hazelchat’s access completely, uninstall it in Stripe under Settings, then Installed apps. Payments already counted stay with their conversations. Deleting a conversation deletes its payments here; nothing is deleted in Stripe.

The reference in the link is random and means nothing outside Hazelchat. It holds no personal data. Stripe shows it on the payment as the client reference ID.
