Install on your website
Pick your platform, add the chat, then switch it on. Hazelchat checks that it is on your website before visitors can see it.
Choose your platform
Open Install in the guided setup, or later Website → Install on your website, and answer Where is your website built?
| Platform | How |
|---|---|
| WordPress | Free plugin from WordPress.org. Paste your public widget key in its settings. |
| Webflow | App from the Webflow Marketplace. Choose pages and CMS items as sources; the app adds the script and can publish your site. |
| Framer | Plugin from the Framer Marketplace. Add it to your site, then publish in Framer. |
| Wix | App from the Wix App Market. Connect your published site; Wix adds the chat. |
| Joomla | Free extension for Joomla 5.4 and 6. |
| Anything else | One line of code. Squarespace, Ghost, Hostinger and nine more builders have a step-by-step guide. |
Add one line of code
Choose Something else, then Copy the code. It is one line with your own widget key:
<script src="https://app.hazelchat.co/widget.js" data-agent="YOUR-WIDGET-KEY" defer></script>
Paste it once into your site’s footer code, or just before </body> in a shared layout so it is on every page, and publish your site. Someone else looks after your website? Send to a developer gives you the steps to forward, or a prompt for a coding agent.
If your site sends a Content-Security-Policy, allow https://app.hazelchat.co in script-src and frame-src.
Switch it on
Tell Hazelchat where
Enter your website’s address and click I’ve added the code. The chat loads only on that website and its subdomains.
Publish and switch on
Click Publish and switch on. Hazelchat looks for the code on your website first and only then shows the chat.
Ask it a question
Open your website, refresh, ask what a visitor would ask, then confirm with Yes, I saw this answer.
Hazelchat cannot find the code? Check that you published your site and that the line is complete. If the code is not on your home page, enter the page it is on under Manage installation → Installation troubleshooting.
Add a question bar
Besides the chat bubble, you can put a search-style field right in a page, for example on your help page. Visitors type a question and the chat opens with the answer. Find the code under Manage installation → Add a question bar to a page. It works with the one-line install, WordPress and Framer, and is not available on Webflow and Wix yet.
<div data-hazelchat-ask></div>
Have your own field or button? Open the chat with a question from your own script: Hazelchat.open({ question }).
Cookie banners
The chat sets no cookies. If you want it to wait until visitors agree, it works with Usercentrics, Cookiebot, CCM19, consentmanager, Borlabs Cookie, Real Cookie Banner and Complianz. See cookie banners and Privacy and data.
